2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

The CD cover, along with the magazine advert, have a similar theme to the music video, and share a location that we have used in our video. We have kept to the same location so that the CD cover can be related to the video when it is displayed in a shop, and therefore should catch the buyers attention easier, furthermore the poster is also similar to the CD cover, this is to promote the song and to associate the advert to the music video, the advert is most associated to the CD cover though, this is purely for marketing effect, so that the CD would be more noticeable in a shop, we have done this to avoid confusion for the audience, and potential buyers who would find it more difficult relating the music video and CD cover if they contained different locations and people. Our CD covers and advert are used to try to make the product sell, it had to be attractive for our audience, which is mainly young teenagers, and by using a more urban theme and location for the CD cover, we think that our Digipak has achieved that. To make it sell more successfully however, we also had to make sure that other than being as creative as possible with our separate ancillaries, they had to be related to each other, in terms of being identified by our audience. To do this we had to make our design and theme unique so that the song would be recognised with the CD cover, and this song alone, or at least this artist alone, but however, we had to keep some consistency between the design of the CD cover and the magazine advert, otherwise the advert would be a waste and would not be promoting the CD as well as it could. Not many people stop to read adverts, so by almost shouting out the song title to them, the target audience would be more likely to gain interest, and would be more likely to read the advert if they were aware what song the advert is promoting. The text is the same in both the ancillary and in the video, which is a white font, this is to help the ancillary texts and the music video stay as similar in comparison as possible and that they do not deviate too much from the themes present in the other. This is important for the audience during marketing so that they become even more associated with the music video when looking at the poster, or when they see the CD cover in a shop. The poster is very subtle in its themes, and story content, we thought that this would be effective and tasteful because it makes the audience want more, or want to find out more about the song and video. This would hopefully encourage the members of the public and our target audience to buy the single or album, it may even just encourage the audience to watch the music video when it is played on a music channel, this would also be helpful in promoting the song as if the watcher is then encouraged to watch the song because of the ancillary, then they may.
